Be on the Dan Lord Mailing List! There’s the sign up form, over there on the sidebar. Tantalizing, isn’t it?

See, I have all sorts of songs, stories, and artistic curiosities from the depths of my Noodle—the “Old Loaf” as it’s sometimes known—that I want to share with That Strangest of Wars fans!

This is a cool new thing, I think. I’ve done a pretty fair job of proving that I’m not very good at being the reliable, productive kind of blogger that the blogosphere generally demands, and I wouldn’t want you to think there’s nothing going on over here in between days (“in between days”? Snap, was that a Cure reference? Forget it…move on).

So, if you own an email account, and you like surprises, and if you are a human being—then sign up! You’ll like it!

AND…here’s some news from the World of Books: I have a new book coming out this year!

I’m not talking about that Marriage book I mentioned here (though you should keep your eyes peeled for that, as well). I mean an all-new, full-length book and—get this—it’s FICTION!

That’s right, people. Without you knowing it, I’ve spent the past few years swimming in the deep end of the Pool of Fiction, staying up late, scribbling away while the kids were sleeping, not shaving, planning out fictional places with fictional characters who go on fictional adventures. And you wonder why I never have any money.

Anyway, prepare yourselves as you may for my forthcoming novel, By the Downward Way. This is Book 1 of what I am calling The Koppersmith Story. It is haunting, thrilling, whimsical and thought-provoking all at the exact same time, and I believe you will thoroughly enjoy it. Much of it takes place on a mysterious island, not unlike the one pictured here. I will keep you posted!

In the meantime: sign up for the Dan Lord Mailing List! Cheers!

  1. Exciting! I want to read it–let me know if I can finagle a review copy. I’m sure the book will be Just Like Heaven.

  2. Wha…! That’s Cure reference # 2! We need to stop this right now before things get out of hand.
But thanks for the encouragement, man!

    • We’ll stop there Dan, but I must say that I’m glad to have held onto all those pictures of you, for the memories.

      • You just couldn’t stop, could you? You couldn’t let it go. Fine, then, if that’s the way you want it. I’m not going to cry about it. You know why? Because Boys Don’t Cry.

  3. Mr. Lord,
How can we get a copy?

How is your sister, Susan – our Visitation Sister in Mobile, AL?

    • Details will be forthcoming, Sister! And Susan is doing great–please pray for her (and for me, too, as long as you’re at it). Thanks for asking!

  4. Love your postings unfortunately I’m a late reader. I’ll look forward to your book
